If you don’t see your question here, please contact us directly.
What is an RCFE?

RCFE stands for Residential Care Facility for the Elderly — a licensed, non-medical residential setting that provides care, supervision and assistance with daily living for older adults. An RCFE is not a nursing home and does not provide skilled nursing or hospital-level medical care.

Do you accept ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents?

Both homes may accept ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents, subject to state licensing requirements and an individualized admission suitability assessment for each resident.

Do you provide dementia care?

Yes. Both Joy in Caring and Joy in Caring II provide dementia care within a small, residential setting.

Do you provide hospice care?

We coordinate with outside hospice providers and can support hospice care or a hospice waiver as permitted under our facility licensing. Skilled hospice medical services are provided by the resident’s hospice agency, not by Joy in Caring directly.

How many residents live in each home?

Joy in Caring is licensed for up to 6 residents. Joy in Caring II is licensed for up to 5 residents. Both are small, co-ed residential settings for older adults.

How do I check availability?

Because our homes are small, availability changes. Please call us directly or submit a Check Availability request and our team will follow up with current information.

How do I schedule a tour?

You can request a tour through our online form or by calling either home directly. We’ll work with you to find a convenient time to visit.

How do I refer a resident as a professional (hospital, social worker, case manager)?

Please start with our general referral inquiry form or call our on-call line. Do not submit medical records or protected health information through the public website — our team will direct you to a secure process for any sensitive documents.

What should I avoid including in the online forms?

Please do not include medical information, diagnoses, medication lists, Social Security numbers or other sensitive health information in any form on this website. These forms are for general inquiries only.

What is the admissions process?

Admissions generally begin with an inquiry, a discussion of care needs, a facility tour or assessment, and a review of licensing and admission suitability, followed by a placement and move-in plan. See our Admissions page for more detail.
